How Training for Learning Works for You
Training for Learning delivers bespoke INSET training for you using specialist teachers. Your trainer will know about ICT and how best you can utilise it in your specialist subject area.
“The trainer was very approachable and explained things
simply without using computer jargon”
Jo Parkinson, Graham School, Scarborough
We provide training in using ICT effectively to teach Modern Languages. Here is an example of some training that Wendy recently delivered to Sheffield Association for Language Learning.
All our training is tailored to meet your individual departments needs. But to give you a taster of what a session would be like, a sample one-day programme for a modern foreign languages teacher, in the use of an interactive whiteboard, might run something like this:
The Interactive Whiteboard for the MFL Teacher
9.30am Demonstration of various ways
that the Interactive Whiteboard can be used in the languages classroom.
Focused on use of Powerpoint for
- introduction of vocabulary
- practising thinking skills and the target language
- teaching and practising grammar
10.10am Powerpoint: demonstration of techniques
10.40am Refreshments
11.00am Powerpoint: your turn! Hands on session to practise the techniques demonstrated
11.45pm Features of the whiteboard: drag and drop, rub out, annotate over with examples using text manipulation and the teaching of grammatical concepts
12.30pm Lunch
1.15pm The Internet and the Interactive Whiteboard, including a demonstration of interactive exercises
2.15pm Hands on practice: time to try out Quia, Spellmaster and other websites
3.15pm E-learning credits: how to use them; information about software providers, questions
3.30pm Close
“I now feel that I know a lot more about the
interactive whiteboard that I’ve had in my classroom for two years
and look forward to experimenting much more with the help of all the information
I’m taking away!”
Julie Butler, Lincoln
